If you're one of my Stampers Club member who is coming to Friday night's session, go away! You don't want to know what you're doing ahead of time, do you???
You do? Oh, okay. You can stay.
January's theme was all about PUNCHES. I took the idea for this first card right off of Stamper's Showcase, an art gallery on the demonstrator-only side of the Stampin' Up! website -- where they post all kinds of new cards daily, meant to inspire us. This one sure did and I loved how the original artist used both sizes of oval punches and a circle punch to create a sunflower effect. A little shading around the edges with the sponge dauber & some Close to Cocoa ink and voila! A pretty flower.
Believe it or not, this was my first time actually using my Well Worn Words background and I really loved the soft effect of the Buckaroo Blue colour on white. It also meant I got a chance to use the Designer Label Punch kit... see my calendar to learn more about the class I'll be doing with this box in late March.
2nd card was a landscape sized card, that can fit in a standard business envelope. We used mostly the Stampin' Write markers and square punches on this one, with the Print Pattern background and some pink gingham ribbon. I've belatedly decided that it's missing the bling I so desperately crave, so I'll probably add Dazzling Diamonds glitter to it for Friday's session. We used Perennial Favorites for the images & the sentiment came from Love Matters, another great Winter mini set and upcoming class set.
The 3rd card that was made was a Real Red/Certainly Celery/Night of Navy combo using the Very Punny Sell-A-Bration set. We used one of the trim stamps from the All in a Row set with the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to position it right where we wanted it. A little snip, snip of the 4 corners and we added a fun little element to our card. It's kind of hard to see in the photo, but we Versamark'd the background using a pattern stamp from the new Polka Dots and Paisley set I got free last month...you too can get it free if you sign up this month! Check out Stampin' Up's website HERE for more on their great Starter Kit promotions. Anyhoo....
Last but not least today, we have poor Amy. Poor Amy, oh dear dear dear.
When doing last night's club cards, poor Amy got a little too scissor-happy and did some MAJOR snippage on her card, to the point it looked more like a stop sign then anything else!!! So poor Amy has been challenged to go home and make a card with her stop sign (hee!!) and report back to me on Thursday when I see her at Bev's hostess workshop. I can't wait to snap a picture of it and share it with you all.
Please consider leaving some words of encoragement/advice/suggestions/commiseration below for poor Amy. I'm sure she'd be VERY grateful!
I see Amy tonight..I have my camera packed so that I can share her creation tomorrow!
