Happiness on the High Seas
Here's a quick story about the day we left:
Flying out of Toronto last Friday to Ft Lauderdale (via a stop-over in Detroit) was actually a blast, despite my dread of flying. It was snowing as we left for the airport at 6:45am, arrived at YYZ by 7:30 and then cleared Customs in record time. We settled in waiting for our 9:30am flight and that went swimmingly, even considering how much I HATE to fly. Yes, I know I said it once already but it deserves special emphasis because I truly loathe it with all my might.
When the plane landed, we decided to wait to deplane until everyone else was off (rather than hold them up with 2 kids & lots of carry-on) and BOY was I ever glad I did! The pilot stopped us as we were passing the cockpit and invited both my kids in to "take a seat". My 6 year old son Morgan and 9 year old daughter Serena were in heaven! He had them engaging the auto-pilot and working the thrusters, pushing buttons galore -- hilarious! My husband and I were killing ourselves laughing and generally freaking out by it all. It was so cool..and yes, I got great pictures!
When we boarded our connecting flight, the flight attendants there had Morgan & Serena announce the flight over the loudspeakers -- again, adorable. Everyone clapped! I'll definitely be flying NWA again if I get the chance - they were so wonderful to the kids.
Off I go for now... I'll write again soon!
