More artwork from the Stampede...

Share |
... as promised, here are some other photos of samples from the London Stampede!

Hope you are all keeping cool today - we've had some thunderstorms this afternoon but it's still 37C with the humidex (about 98F). I'm just THRILLED to smithereens that we got a second A/C unit added to the studio this afternoon (I even photographed my husband bringing the beast up the stairs). I'm sure the ladies coming to the Palette O' Prints class tonight will be just as happy as me :)

This summer will bring some COOL times at Caro's studio -- yippee! And don't forget St. Clair's ice cream around the corner too... biggest & cheapest scoops in Toronto.

Back from the London Stampede

Share |
Hey gang!

My apologies for not getting my updates out earlier this week -- I seem to have a lovely condition called plantar fasciitis (exotic sounding, I know, but really just a foot injury) that got exacerbated by my cute platform sandals this weekend :(

On Friday and Saturday I participated in the 3rd annual "London Stampede", and had an absolute blast. I managed to swap about 30 cardfronts, did a 10 WOW swap, (did a shoe box swap and took tons of pictures :) and yes, obviously I found the battery charger in time before I left.

Corinna and I drove into London from Toronto on the Friday, so that we could catch dinner and then attend the evening presentation. John Sanpietro, my awesome business coach, was presenting a business talk on Advanced Marketing and as always he really had some fantastic ideas and got my brain a'churning. If you are a stamping business professional, I cannot recommend his services highly enough -- check him out.

Saturday brought another talk by John and a whole lot of stamping fun (woohoo). We ended the day by having me do a presentation on home workshops and I even did a mock workshop from beginning to end (and for those of you who have partied with me before, yes, I did the glitter down the cleavage joke to much laughter).

The lovely Alicia Ryckman...

The delectable Jennifer Tinline...

The scrumptious Lorraine Franco-Sham.....

And of course, here are some samples I took pictures of while I was there!

Man-on-a-mission John Sanpietro.....

and here I am, demoing away!

That's it for today, folks. Please don't forget that June is coming and with it, my next stamping e-newsletter. Be sure to sign up on the left-side (it's free)!

Happy Stampin'!

For the loss of a battery charger....

Share |

... no, the war was not lost but DANG it's annoying! I have all these lovely pictures on my camera to share with you but for the life of me, I can't find the battery charger and my camera is kaput, out of juice.

I'm in the process of completely re-vamping my studio and moving things from room-to-room and in the process, well, I can't tell you the things I've managed to misplace. And I don't just mean my brain :(

So... I'm very sorry to have had nothing new to share all week. Well, I DO have goodies, ooodles and oodles of stamping goodies, but that's not the point now, is it???

I leave for the London Stampede on Friday so I have better go find that recharger and soon..............

Soon, my impatient ones, soon!

I know we're all anxious to see the new Catalogue when it's released July 1 (that's Canada Day, eh) but boy oh boy, I'm just not quite done with the current one yet... are you? There are still plenty of accessories and sets that I need from both the Spring mini catty and the current book, but less than 6 weeks to finish stocking up. Where's my Sugar Daddy when I need him?!

To make things worse, I saw the new sneak peek "Preview" catalogue this week, which high-lighted a lot of the new sets & accessories that were showcased on the cruise. It's only 8 pages in size but full of awwwwwwfully pretty stuff what with the new rhinestone bling brads and yummy new "In Color"s that will be released. You can bet that beginning June 1 I will be taking advantage of my demonstrator pre-order perk and ordering up a whack of new stuff to show you all + ordering some of the 2007 Hostess sets, too. I SURE LOVE SU! :)

Now who will get to play with all that fun stuff first (besides me, of course)? My downline gals will (of course), as well as the lucky stampers coming to my Hostess Appreciation Day, that's who! I can't wait to get my hands on everything and then come up with some cutie-patootie projects to make for them.

If you hosted a party with me this past catalogue year, watch your mail next week for your personal invitation -- I hope you can make it on June 23rd!

Happy Stamping,

Whoohoohoo... the WHEELS are BACK!

Share |
Here is a nice piece of news that I came home to after my trip: Stampin' Up! was able to negotiate with their wheels vendor and have made arrangements to be able to provide those retiring ones to us again, including the ones that had sold out in the interim. YIPPEE!! Their vendors are "rising to the challenge of arranging for unscheduled raw materials and production time to enable Stampin' Up! to reorder and supply all wheels on the retired list through June 30."

So what does that mean for you?

Have no fear.... those retiring wheels are still available for a wee bit longer. As they produce wheels to demand for the next two months, there will be situations where minor backorders of some wheels occur (though no wheel will be on backorder for long). BUT at least you can get the ones you want now, so be sure to contact your SU demonstrator to order them while you can.

Fun in Ottawa!

Share |
We had a great time in Ottawa at the Stamping Girls Convention this past weekend (despite my cold upgrading itself to a nasty sinus infection).

The drive from Toronto to Kanata is over 400km (about 260 miles) but the road trip itself was fun with both Cheryl & Joyce along. We stayed at a lovely hotel and managed to get ourselves upgraded to a suite...all the more room to spread out and finish those last-minute swaps in :)

Here's my girlfriend Sarah from Cambridge...she still has that lovely cruise glow. don't you think?

The super-talented Vicki Garrett did some advanced tutorials on watercoloring (and more) - she always inspires me in my stamping and is a sweetie, too.

I came back with some great ideas, cards and projects, as I participated in another 50 WOW swap (see my box full of mini explosion boxes?)

I'll be sure to take pictures later this week to share some of those swaps with all of you.

If you want to know more about making the mini-explosion boxes, feel free to come to my Palette O' Prints class on the 30th or 31st or check out my blog in June when I'll do a step-by-step tutorial on them.

Happy stamping!

So long....adieu...

... for the weekend, anywhooo!

I'm off to the 2007 Stampin' Girls Convention in Ottawa with a bunch of the ladies in my downline and I know we'll have a BLAST! Stamping, swapping, food, and a nice hotel with no kidlets...paradise :)

I've been hoping and praying that I wouldn't still be sick for the trip but what can you do? I'll just dope myself up with more Nyquil & codeine and hope for the best. My kleenex are packed and they can always stick me in the back of the minivan if I misbehave.

Can't wait to share all the fun with you when I get back :)

Send a Card to Shane!

Share |
In case you haven't heard of him yet,

"Shane Bernier is a courageous seven-year-old boy from Lancaster, Ontario who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when he was only five. On June 6th, 2006 Shane and his family received some unfortunate news: Shane experienced a relapse after completing 108 of 130 weeks of treatment.

However, despite the bad news, Shane has managed to keep a positive outlook on his situation and has made a heart-warming wish... He hasn’t asked for money or toys or anything of the sort. Instead, his birthday is on May 30th and he would like to break the world record for the most birthday cards ever received. His goal is 350 million cards. With every card, Shane’s courage grows. Something as simple as sending a birthday card could be enough to help Shane find peace and joy in his current circumstances.

Please take the time to send a card to Shane and make his dream become a reality. Share his story with your friends, family and co-workers. If at all possible, get your youth groups, church congregations, employees, neighbours or communities to set aside a few minutes to write a thoughtful note to Shane.

With every card, Shane’s smile grows..."

www.shaneswish.com

I challenge each of my blog readers to send Shane a card so that he can get it before his birthday (only 19 days left!) :

Shane Bernier
PO Box 484
Lancaster, Ontario

Canada

You can even see an interview with Shane on YouTube!

If you do decide to send him a card, please let me know in the comments :) The more the merrier!!!

And the winner of the May Blog Contest is...

Share |
CHRISTYNE RICHARDSON!

Many of you responded to my recent Blog Scavenger Hunt that was in my May e-newsletter, and Christyne is this month's lucky winner.

To enter the draw, all participants needed to do was visit this blog and find the answers to 2 questions:

- How many sets & wheels do I have that are retiring?
- What kind of fish did Brent & Serena see while snorkeling in Aruba?

The correct answers were:

- 76 stamp sets and 18 wheels that are retiring...
- Brent and Serena saw Blue Parrotfish!!!

Christyne won quarter sheets of our cardstock in an assortment of all 48 colours, plus the 6 "In Colors" too! Congrats again :)

If you are Canadian and would like to sign up for my newsletter, please do so by clicking on the registration link on the left... and see what kind of contest I'll be running next month!

Another "Doodle This" card...

Share |

Here's another "Doodle This" card that we'll be making this evening -- it's a simple design, but striking with its dual-toned copper & gold embossing.

It's a pity that my photo doesn't really capture the glamour of the 2 colours side-by-side, so just blame my little camera and lousy photography skills :)

I'm going to miss "Cheery Chat" as one of my favourite sentiment sets to use... it's a nice solid size, plus it's quirky and whimsical without being cloyingly sweet.

Here's a close of the gold & copper embossing.....

"Doodle This" card!

Share |

Here is one of the "Doodle This" cards (from the new Spring mini catalogue) that we'll be doing at my upcoming class this Saturday evening. I case'd it from Nancy G's swap card I got on the cruise, since I really loved the colour combo and the watercolouring she did.

We'll also be making a Tent Topper card, a Cracked Diamonds card plus I'll also showcase a new embossing technique I learned from Brent Steele. It's going to be a great night so if you'd like to know more about this or any other classes I am offering, please visit my Events page of my business website.

As you know, this list means that all these stamp sets will be retired officially from the Stampin' Up! catalogue as of July 1. You have 2 little months left to stare madly at your wish lists and decide what you just can't possibly live without!!

Visit my Demonstrator Website to see my Early Bird special... just for you.

I will start checking all the Contest entries I have receieved and will get back to you (by tomorrow at the latest) with the lucky winners. I predict that lots of people will have very high scores since there were over 240 sets chosen!

A question for all you demonstrators out there: just how badly were you hit? ETA: I recounted and I'm up now up to 76 identified sets and 18 wheels that will retire on June 30th... how about you?? Let me know in the comments section so we can commiserate together :)
