For today's MDS Monday post, I'm excited to share a fun little tip I discovered to change the background colours on Designer Paper projects in MDS -- My Digital Studio.

Let's take the following example: here's a 12x12 layout where I chose the Distressed Background Paper in Basic Gray. You'll see it gives you a white background with a gray distressed edging.

Next, you'll go to the PUNCHES menu in the Design Centre and select a square punch.


Enlarge the punch so that it covers your entire layout


Then go into COLOR FILL in the Design Centre, to choose a colour to fill in.


Here is the enlarged shape of the square punch in Kiwi Kiss.


The trick now is to go to the OPACITY ruler on the right side, so you can change the opacity or transparency of this added colour. I brought it down to about 40% so you could see the gray background come through nicely!




Does that make sense? Here are some more for you -- the left side is the original, the right side is what it's been changed to!

Chocolate Chip stripes, Ruby Red colour at 30% opacity.



Rock-A-Bye Designer paper - Certainly Celery at 40% opacity.


Summer Home DSP with Riding Hood Red...



You can even layer Papers on papers! Just choose PAPER FILL instead of COLOR FILL.
In this case, it's 2 different papers from the Christmas Jingle set...
