...that I should make a card with My Caroline's favourite set while she's away. I borrowed it back on the 10th of December...I wonder if she's over the withdrawl symptoms yet? Heaven help us if Stampin' UP! ever decides to retire this set...it will NOT be a pretty thing!
Anyway, I was cruising SplitCoast Stampers yesterday and decided to try my hand at the Colour Challenge which was to use Barely Banana, Dusty Durango and Basic Grey, as well as our choice of neutral colours (I chose Very Vanilla).
I stamped the tree image in Basic Grey on Very Vanilla (I tried Whisper White, but it looked too stark) and then added it to a larger layer of Dusty Durango before adhering to the Barely Banana card base. I added some ribbon at the top of the tree panel for some added texture and dimension.
I stamped the sentiment (from All Holidays) in Basic Grey on Barely Banana. To round the ends, I put the end of the strip into the bottom of a circle punch (hold it upside down) and punched just the end. It's a little off on one side, but the card is for my FIL and since he can't see a thing without his glasses, I think we'll be good - LOL!
What do you think?
STAMPS: Lovely as a Tree, All Holidays
INK: Basic Grey
PAPERS: Very Vanilla, Dusty Durango and Barely Banana Cardstock
ACCESSORIES: Ribbon and Punch
Have a Stampin' Good Day!

My Caroline has run away for a few days of MUCH needed rest and relaxation...though I don't know how relaxed she'll be with no access to the internet - I know it would make me NUTS!
While I will most DEFINITELY miss her, I have the privilege of updating her blog while she's away...I wonder what kind of mischief I can create? Heehee!!!
Caroline and I are both part of SUDSOL, an exclusive web site for Stampin' UP! demonstrators. There are so many wonderful ideas on there and many of them are exclusive and can't be found anywhere else online. Anyway...I'm the Canadian Swap Hostess and I'm currently hosting an SAB/Occasions Mini Swap. I thought I'd share with you the card that I'll be submitting for the swap:
I used an image from the new "Good Neighbours" set which was coloured with markers directly on the rubber before being stamped on Whisper White Cardstock.
I also used Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper and Rich Razzleberry Cardstock which was punched with one of the new punches which will be available to earn with your qualifying purchase during our Sale-a-Bration period beginning January 4th.
The Old Olive background, was stamped using the Sprinkles stamp set which is currently available in our Idea Book. And the finishing touch was the Old Olive striped grosgrain ribbon.
What do you think?
STAMPS: Good Neighbours
INK: Old Olive
PAPERS: Whisper White and Old Olive Cardstock; Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper

Have a Stampin' Good Day!!!
Lots of Love~
Please note that I'll be away at the cottage (where there's snow!) until January 4th, and will have NO INTERNET ACCESS until my return. However will I cope? :)
Until I return, I wish you a VERY WONDERFUL NEW YEAR and I look forward to being being back in stampin' touch with you in 2010!

Happy Monday, everyone!
One of the nice things about digital scrapping is that you can "cheat" when you don't have photos of your own for an layout.
For instance, earlier this month my family received last-minute tickets to go see the National Ballet of Canada's performance of The Nutcracker (thank again, Velarie)!
And I do mean last-minute.. there was no time to get all dolled up and ready for it, let alone remembering to bring the camera!
Which left me with a great family memory but no pictures to capture the moment. But with digi-scrapping, who cares? I was able to use some of the pictures from the Nutcracker's website and added them to my layout... now the kids will always have pictures to remind them of an amazing performance enjoyed together.

I apologize for being out of touch recently, but I've been home this week first taking care of a sick Serena and then dealing with the death of our beloved 18 year-old cat BatGirl. It's been a really rough time for our family as she was a very special part of our lives, and her loss struck everyone deeply.
So, to help bring a bit of Christmas cheer to a sad time, here's a video from Shelli Gardner (our CEO & Grand Poobah!) showing how to make some cool holiday crafts using the Big Shot and the Baskets & Blooms die, part of our 12 Days of Holidays special:
If you would like to view a close-up of these projects, feel free to visit Shelli's blog where she shows them in better detail!
And as a special favour to me, if you have any pets in your home, please give them some extra love from me today. A snuggle, a cuddle, a rub of a furry belly... just revel in your happiness and the blessing of their being in your life.

Happy Monday, everyone!
I plan on spending the day finishing all the last of my holiday cards (1/2 way there!) -- I know I'm a little behind but that seems to be the theme of this past fall/winter. All the recent illnesses in the family from the past few months have just kept throwing me further and further behind schedule. Maybe I'll start new year's cards in March....?
Anyhow, it's MDS Monday once again, and so today I'll share a page from the 2007 Stampin' Up! Panama Canal Cruise album I've been working on.
This page uses the Black & White DSP with a light wash of Real Red (at 5% opacity) overtop.
With a bit of a busy background, I didn't want the title to be placed right on top of the paper, but neither did I want it in a solid-coloured box. My compromise was once again to use the opacity tool: I created a long rectangular shape using the Square punch, filled it in with White at at 75% opacity. That way it acted almost like a very heavy vellum overlay.
Oh, and about the photo? On the final formal night of the cruise, we tried to assemble my fellow Canadian cruisers together on the staircase outside the Dining Room for a group photo in all our finery. Don't we look lovely?
If you're a demonstrator yourself, how many of the faces do you recognize? :) Just click on the image to enlarge....

Last night, I hosted our "Canadians, INK!" Holiday Team gathering and had a blast.
One of the fun games I designed was to split everyone up in 2 teams, at 2 different tables. Each team was given 1/2 of a Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin' kit, 1 pair of scissors, adhesive and a paper trimmer.
The challenge was to see how many cards they could make using just these materials in 15 minutes, with points being judged for quantity, quality and team work.
Tick...tick... tick... DING!
Before you knew it, 15 minutes were up and Team 1 had completed 37 cards, with Team 2 coming in with an amazing 47! And the thing is... all these cards were fabulous!
Some of the cards were even quite ingenious, like Paul's mini window card!
All in all, it was wonderful to see so many of our peeps together to celebrate the holidays, make some cool projects and eat delicious treats! You can view some more of the photos here on my Facebook page.
Hope you can join us next month for the January team gathering :)

I had the great delight of entertaining Ian Robertson of the TorontoSun.com at the studio today.
He's working on an article about rubber-stamping & our upcoming February Stampin' Palooza event, that should appear in print and online on December 26 for their Boxing Day edition.
Normally I can be quite shy (don't laugh!) but this lovely gentleman worked with me to do a video interview complete with B roll footage, as well as taking pictures of many of the projects we have showing around the space. I admit to being quite excited to see this article come out on Boxing Day - be sure to check it out!
In other media news, details about my visit with Katie Dupuis from Chatelaine.com were posted to her "She's Crafty" blog.
Katie's is not only a Production Editor at Chatelaine, but she's also a faboo craftin' chick and a total kindred spirit: I could have spent hours chatting with her about paper arts and the cool ideas she has for her upcoming New Years wedding.
I'd brought along a couple of cool holiday banners I made using the glitter-encrusted "Ho Ho Ho" Chipboard to share, which I gave to her for her mom's house. I also shared some Big Shot die-cut ornaments and brought neat holiday card samples, just to show some of the myriad of things you can do with stamps.
And then she made her very own hand-stamped holiday card! Yes, that one above using the Winter Post stamp set.. we went through it step-by-step and her's looked like she'd been doing it for years: totally awesome!
Definitely bookmark her crafting blog to visit on a regular basis; you'll be glad you did.
