MDS Mondays -- fun new blog banner!

Share |

It's MDS Monday here on Craftin' Caro, so here's my latest fun project using My Digital Studio: a new blog banner!

Forget the winter doldrums... I was looking for something sweet and cheerful to lift my spirits, and so this is what I came up with:

This banner was created originally in the 12x12 layout format, using the new "My Sweet Pea" digital kit of papers and felt pieces. If you've been coming to my classes at all recently, then you KNOW how much I love these in real life. It only made sense to use them virtually as well :)Please contact me if you'd like more information on learning how to use My Digital Studio for your projects!

"Very Thankful" Class - Wednesday Jan 27!

Share |

I'm very excited to be holding a "Very Thankful" class this Wednesday, as we'll be using this year's Ronald McDonald House set to make a set of 8 cards (2 each of 4 designs).

Did you know that you contribute to the cause of Making a Difference in the lives of children served by Ronald McDonald House Charities when you buy the Very Thankful stamp set?

Not only will you be able to share your thanks with others with these delightful images, but you will have the gratitude of the children and families who benefit from the donation of $2 per set that Stampin' Up! contributes from the proceeds of this stamp set!

Our colour scheme for the cards will be based on the awesome Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper, using Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, Summer Sun, Only Orange, Pink Passion, and Pixie Pink. These colours are guaranteed to cheer up any gray January day!

More "All Occasions" cards for you!

Share |

Woohoo! Here are some more of our cards for "All Occasions" card class, with a variety of sets and techniques. The trick of these classes is to make 10 full cards in just about 2 hours, so we don't go overboard or anything -- just have some fun stamping!

This card uses Embrace Life in Regal Rose with Basic Black, and using Frost White shimmer paint to embellish the small blossoms...

The My Dear Kind and Wonderful Friend stamp is from All Holidays, one of my favourite sentiment stamps sets. I've paired it here with Melon Mambo & Rich Razzleberry, plus the Razzleberry Lemonade Designer Series Paper.

Christyne walked in the studio this morning and immediately snatched this one up, oohing and ahhing over the spring colours. It's hard to see the sparklies in real life, but it's very cheerful! The tall blossom is from the Good Friend set, BTW.

Here's the final card for today, using Fifth Avenue Floral on some textured Very Vanilla, lightly sponged in Ruby Red, Cameo Coral and Pumpkin Pie.

Happy stamping,

Stampin' Up!'s Haiti Disaster Relief Fund!

Share |

Help make a difference in the lives of those who continue to suffer from the effects of the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12.

From now until February 28, 2010, Stampin’ Up!® will set aside $2 USD from the sale of every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set and donate it to the American Red Cross’ Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The Red Cross is already well established in Haiti, and this money will be used to provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.

In addition, I will donate my personal commission on the sales of any of these stamps sold to the Canadian Red Cross Haiti Earthquake Fund, as every little bit will help.

#118571 - I {Heart} Hearts - clear-mount (block D) $24.95
#117010 - I {Heart} Hearts - wood-mount $35.95

Stampin' Up! demonstrators share what they love and it's how we can help make a difference. Please do everything you can to lend a hand to the people of Haiti!

ETA: I'd strongly urge you also to take a look at Shelli's blog entry today about another way Stampin' Up! is helping. They bought some supplies for 5,000 hygiene kits, and had some of their vendors also donate for the kits as well.

SU employees were invited "to help assemble the kits over the next few days, and apparently the response was so enthusiastic that they got all the kits assembled in one day!" CLICK HERE TO READ!

Want to see a card made with this set? Check out #5 of my "Gearing Up to Valentine's" series!

Happy stamping,

Saturday's class - All-Occasions cards + update class schedule!

Share |

I'm gearing up for Saturday's card class at 1pm, where we'll be making 10 all-occasion cards, so everything from "Get Well Soon", sympathy, birthday, thank you's... all kinds of them!

Here are a few sneak peeks, please click to enlarge and see detailing:

Did you know you can still order the Shimmer paints from the retired Holiday Mini catalogue? Here's the Friends 24-7 stamp set with the Champagne Shimmer paint sponged on the Very Vanilla layer...

"Thoughts & Prayers" stamp set in an Old Olive & Bravo Burgundy colour scheme, with some chunky glitter in the tree...

This was fun: I took the Medallion stamp, inked it up in Crushed Curry and then ran the Very Vintage jumbo wheel in Dusty Durango over the rubber surface before stamping! Subtle effect but neat... The card was also embossed with the Finial Press folder through the Big Shot.

Here's Upsy Daisy in a Sage Shadow/Basic Gray/So Saffron colour combo, using the Nouveau Chic designer paper as an accent...

As for the rest of my January/February and March classes, you can now find them ALL posted on my Events page here: www.canadiansink.ca/classes.htm. Hope to see you sometime soon!
