Fun on TV!

Share |

That's a pretty wacky shot, isn't it? It's of me shooting into the mirror over the display counter we were filming on!

You see, yesterday I took the train out to Oshawa to CHEX Channel 12 to film another appearance for the "Lifestyles with Rita" show.

I just love Rita Nave, and had been on her show previously to show hand-stamped wedding ideas (see that episode here and here). This time I was there to showcase all kinds of fun Easter ideas.

If you want to check the show out, it'll be on Good Friday, April 2!

When husbands stamp....

Share |

March Break is almost over here in Toronto, so my kids are respectively getting as much sleeping/video-game playing in as they can before it's back to school on Monday.

Since the studio has been closed and I have little by way of projects to show you until I return, let me share with you Big Shot Brent's latest card:

Last week when I was enjoying dinner with Shelli, he stayed behind at the studio to run that evening's Stampers Club. With all the stamping gear left out to play with, he decided to "get inspired" and make me a card.

He even used one of our Stampin' Palooza Online sketch challenges to jump start his creativity, so he ended up making me this card using scallop circle punches, brads with Crystal Effects & glitter, and even added some Window Sheet for an extra clear layer!

I won't share the sweet words he wrote inside (those are just for me) but be sure to leave him a comment with some encouragement.... that will hopefully keep him stamping heartfelt cards for me for years to come :)

MDS layout - creating a faux corner fold!

Share |

I hope my fellow "March Break"-ers are enjoying the beautiful weather we're experiencing this week!

With the studio closed for spring cleaning, there isn't too much stamping to share, so here's a digital layout I created from our group picture of our Demos-Only 'Palooza night.

If any of my fellow digi-scrappers want instructions on how to re-create the faux folded corner that I feature on this layout, leave me a comment below with your email so I can send it to you!

Fun with Décor Elements

Share |

My friend Erin was kind enough to share a picture with me of her "Thoughts & Prayers" tree Décor Element, once she had it up.

If you are curious about sizing since this design comes in 3 sizes, Erin used the Medium one which is 34-3/4" x 24-3/8". If you needed to go bigger, the Large is 52-1/8" x 36-1/8".

BTW, congrats to Erin for joining the Stampin' Up! family and our "Canadians, INK!" team :)

She's another smart stamper of mine who has taken advantage of the current Starter Kit sale and not only got it at a great price, but she was able to take advantage of the extra free stamps being offered too!

The Digital Starter Kit is still on sale as well in case you wanted the My Digital Studio software as part of your package. Please let me know if you are interested in either!

A field of rabbits...

Share |

Those rabbits... they're multiplying! :)

I had a lot of fun filling these itty bitty baskets with Easter candy to give to my Stampers Club gals this month.

To make the tag, I used the bunny from Eight Great Greetings and coloured him in with Soft Subtle markers. She was then punched out using the Round Tab punch and layered on the free pink heart-ed "Welcome Neighbour" paper pack from the SAB catalogue.

I JUST LOVE FREE STUFF! I remember getting this set for free last year during Sale-A-Bration as one of my sales perks, so everytime I use it, I can't help but smile :)

Now is the perfect time to order your personalized Starter Kit since not only is it on sale for 15% off until the end of the month, but you also get FREE STAMPS (any price!) as an added bonus!

Contact me for more information or if you're ready to order now, click HERE and use canada as your password to begin and you'll be all set to start ordering for yourself at a great discount.

Dinner with Shelli & Friends!

Share |

Last night, I enjoyed a wonderful dinner with Shelli Gardner and her daughter Sara Douglass along with Christyne and 3 other "Canadians, INK!" demonstrators: Esther, Genevieve and Lyne. Unfortunately, Esther's two new demos Jessica and Debbie were unable to join us, and I missed getting to meet them.

Esther's "Workshop Of a Lifetime" with Shelli and Sara had occurred earlier in the evening, so this was our chance to unwind, eat and laugh together -- all over some yummy food (and even better dessert!). I had so much fun with everyone, my face was still hurting this morning from all the sore muscles from grinning and laughing so much :)

My only regret was that I didn't have a magic wand to bestow some extra sleep on these travel-weary ladies: they'd only gotten 4 hours the night before and with a extra-early flight back to Utah this morning, they probably fared just as badly.

Here's hoping they had a safe trip home.., and that their luggage makes it home with them!

Huge props go out to Esther for her fabulous accomplishment... I'm so thrilled that you earned this so early into your Stampin' Up! career! Ladies, not only is she rocking her business, but she's 8 months pregnant, has 2 small & active boys AND a full-time job as well. Way to go, Esther!

You can read more from Shelli herself about Esther's workshop here...

Fun projects for my March Club gals!

Share |

First things first...just so you know, ANYONE can come and attend a Stampers Club date with me - you don't need to be a member (though you do need to RSVP). Your attendance is free with a $25 order that day, so check out the times, etc HERE if you want to come this week and play with us!

Because our monthly club dates in April fall after Easter, I thought it best to have the march projects follow that theme now :)

Our first project is a cutie-patootie little basket, made with the Scallop Square die. I got the idea off of Diana Ball-Seitz's blog, where you score and fold at every third scallop, snip and your basket is done!

Card #2 is an easy one to throw together, using the "Baskets & Blooms" die to create a basket of easter eggs, using the "Shades of Spring" DSP and the Wide oval punch.

If you look carefully, you can see I even texturized the basket with the weave pattern from plates kit #4...I love the subtle effect!

Our third card uses the specialty Bride paper, which has that lovely shimmer effect and looks beautiful when you either sponge or brayer with ink overtop. We used a three colour combo of Cameo Coral, So Saffron and Rose Red.

For more fun, we snipped the scallop circle shape to create petals, and then used Crystal Effects to add Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the large white brad for some extra bling :)

More Birthday cards for our class!

Share |

Here are 2 more of the cards we're making on Saturday & Monday's birthday cards classes (you can see yesterday's card here).

I love making the faux-vase from the Ornament punch, and paired with the pretty flowers from the "Thoughts & Prayers" set, you can't go wrong! If you click to enlarge the photo, you'll see some glitter on the flowers...needed a wee bit of bling to make me truly happy.

The colour combo used was Rose Red & Always Artichoke, plus the Thoroughly Modern Designer series paper. If you look closely, you'll see the tiniest bit of Bashful Blue under the vase, to create the illusion of shadow.

This So Saffron card plays with More Mustard and Chocolate Chip, and one of the beautiful flowers from the Embrace Life set.

I heat-embossed it with Gold, and watercoloured the inside with More Mustard and just the teeniest touch of Pumpkin Pie.

The sentiment is from Well Scripted, probably my favourite new word set from the Occasions mini catalogue!

I have spots left for all 3 times, so drop me a line if you'd like to RSVP to come play with us!
