Two of Friday's Open Stampers Day cards!
Friday is a PA day here in Toronto for the elementary schools, so some of you gals will be having your kidlets home for the day. If you feel like getting out to stamp and enjoy some "me time", be sure to pop by the studio anytime between 1 and 9pm for my monthly Open Stampers Day!
The cost for the class is FREE with your $25 order placed that day, and ANYONE is welcome to attend. Just be sure to RSVP and I'll be sure to have enough supplies on hand for you :)
We'll be making 3 cards and I'll share 2 of them with you right now. Card #3 will be a surprise to class attendees, but I will share with you that we'll be making a gorgeous Melon Mambo glittery tulip card... but using the 2-STEP OWL PUNCH to make it!!! You'll just have to come to see and make it for yourself.
Now, on to today's cards...

Okay, the colour combo for our first card uses Pumpkin Pie, Pear Pizzazz and Night of Navy.
I was super inspired when I saw an adorable card made by the always amazing Mary Brown, which uses the new Sweet Buttons Embosslit Die to punch out these adorable little embossed buttons.
If you don't recognize the stamp set that the words are from, it's because it's one of the NEW Sale-A-Bration sets that you can get for FREE with a $60 order.

This set of 10 comes in both clear and wood, so you can add "So Happy For You" to your stamp collection.. without it costing you a penny! And don't forget that I'm offering free S&H on all SAB orders until the end of March -- check here for details.
For the ribbon portion, I used some Pear Pizzazz 1/2 Inch Seam Binding Ribbon to go across the top, then affixed a bow to it using one of the Neutrals 5/16 Inch Brads.
You might also notice that this seam binding ribbon colour is new to the Occasions mini catalogue, and also coordinates with coordinates with the Springtime Vintage suite of papers, fabric and buttons.

I was inspired for this card idea from one I saw done by Elizabeth Fedyna on our demonstrator Stampin' Connections website - somewhere I visit every day to get new project ideas from. It has almost 150,000 samples uploaded to it from fellow demonstrators, plus oodles of videos and another cool goodies to keep me grooving when my stamping mojo is low. It's one of my fave sites!

I remember getting this set for free at the 2010 Founders Circle trip and having to keep it under wraps until this catalogue launched, which was wicked hard to do since I love the little sentiments!
For the images, I first stamped off the Tangerine Tango ink from the large flourish stamp once, because otherwise I found it to be too strong a colour for look I was after. The butterfly and words were stamped full strength, and worked out great.

You'll also notice that the edges of the Tangerine Tango layer were punched out using the Scallop Edge Border punch to add some extra interest to the card.
Well, if you got this far already, good for you. I sure id write a whole novel's worth today :) I hope you enjoyed today's cards and if there's time later today, I'll post one of the projects for Saturday afternoon's “Time for Techniques” class using the Herringbone technique!
